Genesis to Esther Series –
Lesson 7
1. The Book Of Genesis
The book of
Genesis was written about 1500 years before Christ. It is 3500 years old. It
was written 1500 BC. There are 50 chapters. The writer is Moses -- stated in
John, as well as in Luke.
John 5: 46-47
(46) For had ye believed Moses, ye
would have believed me: for he wrote
of me.
(47) But if ye believe not his
writings, how shall ye believe my words?
2. Meaning Of The Word
1. The Word “Genesis”
The word
“Genesis” means “beginning,” or “beginnings,” – the coming into being of
anything. It has to do with origins. I have with me this book I mentioned to
you before: GENESIS, A
DEVOTIONAL COMMENTARY by
W.H. Griffith Thomas. I recommend this book to you; you will find a lot of help
in it. I am just going to read a little of what he states:
The book of Genesis records the beginning
of Creation
of man,
of woman,
of the
Sabbath,
of
marriage,
of home,
of
childhood,
of sin,
of murder,
of
sacrifice,
of Grace,
of trade,
of agriculture,
of city
life,
of races,
of
languages,
and of the
chosen people.
You have:
The beginning of the material universe,
or the sphere of Divine Revelation or Grace.
The beginning of the human race,
or the subject of the Divine Revelation of Grace.
The beginning of human sin,
or the cause of Divine Revelation of Grace.
The beginning or Divine Redemption,
or the character of the Divine Redemption of Grace.
The beginning of the nations of the earth,
or the scope of the Divine Revelation of Grace.
The beginning of the Hebrew nation,
or the channel of the Divine Revelation of Grace.
The beginning of the life of faith and consecration,
or the outcome of the Divine Revelation of Grace.
The first four words are the key note of the Book, which
is struck again and again throughout the Record –“ In the
beginning God.” It is essentially a Book where God is
both prominent and predominant.
Don’t forget
that. You take God out of the book of Genesis, and you
haven’t got much left.
2. Observe
Mark it, and
remember this, because I am giving you in this statement, and in others like
it, what I consider to be the basis
of Bible Hermeneutics.
What is Hermeneutics? – how
you interpret the Bible.
How are you going to interpret it? Now watch this:
Observe, what has a beginning in Genesis, is consistently carried throughout the entire Bible.
What a
difference there would have been in the history of theology, if that fact was always observed. What do I mean? Well, let’s
take an example.
3. Example
Genesis
introduces Adam as the first man, and Eve as the first woman. That fact does not change, whenever they are named elsewhere.
While we are
doing this, when you see direct quotations in the New Testament, out of the Old
Testament, then you are faced with this problem: How can I believe what is in the New
Testament, if I don’t believe
what is in the Old Testament ---because the New Testament quotes the Old Testament
as being authentic.
Luke 3: 38
(38) which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth,
which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.
Isn’t that an
interesting statement! All the rest of us, by natural
birth, are not Sons of God.
By natural birth, we are sons of Adam,
or sons of men. But Adam
came directly from the Hand of God, and therefore, he is
called not a son of men, but Adam is a Son of God.
If I am going
to believe Luke, I have to believe Genesis. Here is another fact quoted in the New Testament, based on the Old:
Romans 5: 14
(14) Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to
Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of
Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
You have, first
of all, Adam linked with Moses. What is significant about that? I don’t know anybody
I ever met, who doesn’t believe in an historical Moses. There is too much evidence! But they don’t believe that Adam
was historical. Now that logic breaks down, for this verse links
Moses with Adam. How real and literal is Adam? – as real as Moses.
If you are going to believe in Moses, you have to
believe in Adam.
Twice, Adam is
mentioned. It talks about his sin, and then it says, Adam is a figure of Him who is to come. And who is the reference?
The reference is to Jesus Christ.
So in one statement, Adam is linked with Moses and with Jesus
Christ.
And if Jesus Christ is real, then Moses has to be real. And if Jesus Christ is real, then Adam has to be real. And so, if you try and do away with Adam – you do away with Christ
in your thinking.
Notice the
references to these first two Bible characters, in the New Testament.
1 Corinthians 15: 22
(22) For as in Adam all die,
I simply want
you to notice that Paul doesn’t argue
his existence. He simply quotes
from the Old Testament “as in Adam all die.”
1 Corinthians 15: 45-47
(45) And so it is written
Where is it
written? It is written back in the Old Testament.
The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was
made a quickening spirit.
(46) Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that
which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
(47) The first man is
of the earth, earthy: the second man is
the Lord from heaven.
Once again, it
is connected with the Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 11: 3
(3) But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled
Eve through his subtlety, so your minds
should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
He connects the
story with Eve. Eve is named there. Now finally:
1 Timothy 2: 13-14
(13) For Adam was first formed
You have that
statement in 1 Corinthians. You have it in Timothy. And you have it in Genesis.
How many witnesses do you need?
(13) For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
That fits with
the book of Genesis.
(14) And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived
was in the transgression.
All I am
referring to is the historical
record. If you believe
the New Testament, you have to believe the Old Testament.
Quick Review
Looking back
over points one and two, and then we shall continue on. The book of Genesis has
fifty chapters, written about 1500 years before the Coming of Christ. And Moses
is the author.
The meaning of the word “Genesis” – “Beginning, or
beginnings.” We observed that what has a beginning
in Genesis, is consistently carried throughout the entire Bible. When we read
the New Testament – Adam remains Adam, and Eve remains Eve. The original meaning is never changed.
You may use
Adam as an illustration, but that does not change the meaning.
You may use it in typology, but that does not change the meaning.
You may use it in application, but it doesn’t
change the meaning.
I don’t know
whether you have heard this or not, but there are some who claim that Adam was not really Adam, but he was Christ. Now I reject that. I don’t believe that! Adam may be a type of Christ, but remember, he never ceases to be Adam,
even though he is a type.
We are going to
see the importance of that, as we move on into the Old
Testament. We are going to come up to a number of words that men today have
ways of changing. For instance, the word “Israel.” We are going to find people
who will take the word “Israel” in the Old Testament, bring it to the New
Testament, and give it a brand new meaning. You
see Israel is Israel throughout the Bible. Israel may typify the Church, but Israel is never the Church. She always
remains Israel.
If we follow
that principle, our interpretation will be consistent, and more than that, we will come out with the same answers. We will have the same conclusions. If you follow through, on the same premise of argument, I care not whether the man be in
Canada, or in Britain, or across to the other side of the world in Australia --
if you follow the same rules of interpretation from Genesis to
Revelation, you are going to come to the same conclusions.
Now the problem
is, we don’t all follow the same rules. That’s why, from the very beginning, I want to set down rules that are logical. Adam is Adam isn’t he? And Eve is
Eve. You see, Eve becomes a picture of the Church. I know that from the book of Ephesians. But she never ceases to be Eve.
I like to go
further than that: when I read in the New Testament, that many shall come from
the east, and shall sit down with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Sarah -- isn’t
that interesting! I guess Abraham has to remain
Abraham, and Sarah
has to remain Sarah,
or else the Bible doesn’t make any sense!
And I guess in eternity, I’m going to have to remain to be me –
whether I want that or not. And you
are going to have to remain to be you.
You are going to be you for ever. That is what the Bible is teaching us. It is given for our instruction.
3. Genesis Begins With The Fact Of God
I am not a
Hebrew scholar, and I do not claim to know Hebrew, but I do know that anybody
can take a concordance and look up the word God.
And you will find it is the Hebrew word “ELOHIM.”
That is most interesting “IM” at the end of that word. Somebody comes
along and asks me “Have you got all the answers on the Godhead?” My answer is
“No, I do not have all the answers on the Godhead.” But, some years ago, in an
article I wrote, I said: “A finite mind,
a limited mind, trying to comprehend an infinite God.”
You see, the word “infinite”
– means “unlimited.”
God is unlimited
in knowledge.
He is unlimited
in Power.
He is unlimited
as to His presence.
The omniscient, omni-presence of God is everywhere in
the Scriptures. Well, that will give you where I stand on the Godhead.
Even after the Incarnation, Jesus said:
John 4: 24
(24) God is a
Spirit:
God is Spirit: before the coming of Christ.
God is Spirit since the Incarnation.
(24) God is a Spirit: and
they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
God has not ceased to be Spirit, even though it is NOW
true, that in Jesus the fullness
of the Godhead bodily dwells. That is taken directly out of the Scripture. Jesus is NOW the express image of God’s Person. If I would know God, I must know Jesus
Christ. If I would come to God, I must come through
Jesus Christ.
In Jesus, the Godhead has been pleased to have all
dealings with me; therefore, I love my brethren who believe in the Deity of
Christ. We may not agree, but I find in the Bible, that when I confess Jesus the Lord, I glorify God. Likewise the Spirit’s work, is to take of the things of Christ,
and show them unto me. Therefore, I adore, I love, I worship, I exalt the Name
which is above every name, the Name of Jesus.
To some, I may
not understand the Godhead, but we all have to agree, we know the same Savior. Praise the Lord. You will get into all
kinds of theological debates regarding this Word: In the
beginning God. I want to keep it alive, because one of these days, if the Lord tarries, I
will be gone.
1. Genesis 1:1
Genesis 1: 1 is
the doorway through which you will have to walk into the Bible. “It is
a majestic verse. It is a tremendous verse.” That is a quote from J. Vernon McGee. And I
recommend his books. There are five volumes: “Through the Bible - study with J. Vernon McGee.” There are some things, of course, where
I do not agree with the man. But in the book of Genesis, it is tremendous.
2. I Come To This Conclusion:
I come to this
conclusion: If you believe in God, THEN
you will be able to believe in Genesis. If you
believe Genesis, THEN you will be able to believe ALL the Bible, because there is no miracle that comes
later on in the Bible, that is not first of all in the book of Genesis. If you
believe the Bible, THEN you must believe
in Jesus
Christ the Lord.
3. Hebrews 11: 6
Hebrews 11: 6
(6) But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he
that cometh to God must believe that he is, and
that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
He that cometh
to God MUST believe that HE IS!
4. People Ask:
People have
asked, and are asking, and will continue to ask -- Is there a God? Secondly, If
there is, how can I know
that there is a God? What can I see, and what can I feel? All humans are just
like that, and that’s all right.
5. Quote: Francis Schaeffer
But here, I
want to quote a man who I have mentioned before -- Francis Schaeffer. This is
taken from the Dallas Quarterly – “BIBLIOTHECA SACRA” (#510 – pages 102-105). I am not going to read all
that is there. I have picked out some. Here is part
of what is there:
Schaeffer says
to the question: Is there a
God?
There are three possible answers:
1. THE
FIRST BASIC ANSWER IS:
Everything that exists came out
of absolutely nothing. It cannot be nothing-something
or something-nothing. It must be truly nothing-nothing.
That is quite a
putting together of words, but you don’t start with a little bit. If there is no God,
you start with nothing-nothing. There must be no
energy, no mass, no
motion, and no personality. Now here is the question I
ask: Have you ever yet seen nothing produce something?
I think that is an insult to your intelligence. You just don’t
expect nothing to produce something.
And so, that is ruled out: Nothing cannot produce something. Nothing produces nothing.
2. SECOND
POSSIBLE ANSWER
The Second possible answer is:
that all that now is had an impersonal
beginning.
Beginning with
the impersonal; everything (including man) must be
explained by the impersonal plus time
plus chance. No one has shown us how time plus chance
can produce the needed complexity of the universe, let alone the personality of man, if you begin with an impersonal. (The more you think that through, the more sense it
makes.)
Someone has
used the illustration: How did this watch come together? Well, the pieces just
happened to float together, and the #1 hit the right place, and the #2 hit the right
place etc.
I think that
maybe you have read or heard about the days of the great scientist – Sir Isaac Newton. I get them mixed up
sometimes. John Newton wrote “Amazing
Grace, How Sweet The Sound.”
He was the slave trader.
But Sir Isaac
Newton, the scientist, had a workman go into his office, and make a world out of
Plaster of Paris. With a very fine wire,
the workman suspended it from the ceiling. Then he made the sun and moon and
some of the planets (again made of Plaster of Paris,) and suspended them from
the ceiling also.
And,
after-a-while one of the professors from the university came in and said: “Sir
Isaac, that’s a beautiful piece of work – who did it for you?” and Sir Isaac
said, “Nobody.” And the professor said “Come now, you
don’t expect me to believe that do you?” And Sir Isaac said “You are trying to tell your students that the earth and
the sun and the moon and the stars are all hanging out there, and nobody did it! And yet, you won’t
believe that a little piece of Plaster of Paris, hanging from the ceiling just happened to hang there!”
You know, when
you think of it, it takes more faith to believe what the unbelievers teach, than what the Bible
teaches. I can’t believe with absolutely nothing. And I cannot
believe in an impersonal time and chance. And the only other answer
is here – the third possible answer.
3. THIRD
POSSIBLE ANSWER
The third possible answer
involves, starting with a personal beginning.
And of course,
you will have people who will say, “Well then, who began God?” And if you haven’t had it, you will have it some day; but that is where the buck stops.
It stops right there.
God had no beginning, and He needed
no beginning,
because if He did, He wouldn’t
be God.
To have an adequate answer of a personal
beginning, you need a personal, infinite God,
and you need a personal unity in diversity in God. The Bible begins with God Who is everywhere revealed as a Person.
6. Consider
Psalms 14: 1
There is an
interpretation of this, and I’m applying
it tonight. But it is also true that we can apply it to men who say that “God
does not exist.”
(1) The fool hath said in his heart
(the English
translation has inserted: There is
no God.
I can apply it, I’m not interpreting: The fool has said “No God.”
Two stories
come to mind, as I read this. One day an atheist stood up in a public meeting,
and took out his watch – and said, “If there is a God in Heaven, I
give Him two minutes to strike me dead.” He let the moments tick off. And somebody stood up in
the audience and said, “Man, the way you have
lived – do you think you can exhaust the patience of God in two minutes?” I thought that was pretty smart!
Another time, there
was an atheist, who had lectured all across America, and had given his life to
lecturing his atheism. And one man came and said, “I can
prove to this congregation that any man who doesn’t
believe in God, is a fool.” The atheist said, “Do it.” The man said “How long did
you say you have been lecturing on your atheism?” “Oh,” he said, “for twenty
years, or there about.” He said “Do you mean to tell me, that a man who
lectures for twenty years about NOTHING
isn’t a fool?” I think he had a point, The fool
hath said in his heart, there is no God.
Job says
something that I like in this connection. Turn to Job, and we will do away with
all that unbelief. This verse gives an invitation that I like. It is an invitation to all, saved
and unsaved.
Job 22: 21
(21) Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace:
Acquaint
yourself with God. Peace comes by getting to know God. And so the invitation is – just get to know Him. The fool says he doesn’t
exist, but you get to know Him and see what is going to happen to you.
I remember
brother Currie, one of our founding fathers in the Apostolic fellowship, who
used to stand up and say, “I have challenged men all across this country,
to come and get down on their knees with me for thirty minutes.”
Why did he say
thirty minutes? That was between him and God. But he said, “I
will challenge any man to get down on his knees with me for thirty minutes, and
after thirty minutes, if you don’t believe in God, then I won’t either.”
He said that he
has found that any man who will get down on his knees before God, will find Him. You will find Him, and
you will acquaint yourself with Him.
The other one
is in Psalms 104:34. Now the fool says
that God does not exist, Job says, if you will acquaint yourself with Him, you will find peace. And the psalmist said this:
Psalms 104: 34
(34) My meditation of him shall be sweet:
You start acquainting
yourself with God. Start learning what it is to communicate
with God, and you will find sweetness to your taste, and you start experiencing
something that, until you know Him, you can’t
experience.
7. We Recommend Three Books
The first one:
THE GOD WHO IS THERE by Francis
Schaeffer. The subtitle of that book is:
AND HE IS NOT SILENT. God is there,
and He is not silent.
It is a tremendous book.
And then the
second book I recommend, is not written by a Christian. Some of you, perhaps
have seen some novels by Herman Wouk. They are quite well-known. The book is
entitled THIS IS MY GOD. The Jewish
Way Of Life. The interesting thing about this book is, it is written by a Jew, who is not a Christian, but he is trying to explain
to us as Gentiles, how a Jew looks upon his God. I found it most informative,
and I learned from reading this, about the God of the Bible. And so, I recommend it to you.
Another book
that certainly needs to be recommended to all Christian readers MERE
CHRISTIANITY by C. S. Lewis.
Brother Lewis thought he was an atheist. He said he was an atheist.
But one day, he started to think about himself, and God was working on the
man’s heart, and on his brain, because he said “I have built into me a
knowledge of what is right and what is wrong.” If you read the book, he goes on
and lets you know he suddenly discovered “Where did I get that? I didn’t invent
that. There must have been somebody beyond
me that gave me that knowledge.” And every man has in him the knowledge of God –
Romans 1. This is a
very informative, very educational book.
4. Genesis Reveals God, First Of All,
As the Creator Of Creation
A basic
principle of pedagogy. I don’t put these words in because I like
using words – but sometimes people go to Bible
school, and they come out and say “Didn’t they use that word and tell you about
it?” I’m going to tell you about it, and then you will forget about it, but
maybe some day you will need it.
Basically, it
is teaching children
– how you teach children – the laws of teaching children – pedagogy. Pedagogue
was one who taught pedagogy. A principle of pedagogy – how you teach children:
you proceed from something that is known
to the unknown. You take something that they can see, and then you compare
it.
Actually, when
you stop and think of all your learning when you were young, we learn by comparison. Why do you know the chair you are sitting on is
hard? – because you have had the privilege of sitting on a softer one. Why do
you know I am short? There is only one reason, because you have seen one
taller. If you haven’t seen a person taller than I, you wouldn’t know I am
short. We learn by comparison. Why do you say one is fat, and other is
thin? – because of comparison. Everything is by comparison. And every
once-in-a-while when my dear wife gets after me for my over-indulgence with
food, I find somebody who is much better rounded out than me, and I say to my
wife, “Well look at that, in comparison I’m still OK.” Well, we learn by comparison.
We may not see God, and we may not think that we can feel Him, but we can see creation.
And that’s why God starts by revealing Himself as the God of Creation. Let’s
turn to a whole list of Scriptures. Some of them, we have used, but we have to
use them again, for this purpose.
I want you to
observe that what has a beginning
in Genesis, is
consistently carried throughout all the Bible.
In Genesis, the first thing I read about God is – that He is the God of Creation. That fact is everywhere.
1. Acts 17: 25
Acts 17: 25 (Speaking of God)
(25) He is not worshipped with men’s hands, as though he
needed any thing.
For my purpose,
I pull those words out. That verse reveals that God did not need to create. God was complete,
apart from His creation. And it did not
take the creation to fulfill
God, because God is the one, seeing he giveth to all life,
and breath, and all things.
Two times in
the verse, the little word ALL. God is the giver of life to all. And God is the giver of life to all of His Creation.
2. Genesis 1: 1
“In the
beginning God created.”
Let’s go to Hebrews 11: 3, and remind ourselves of the principle, that teaching
is repetition. Turn to Hebrews 11, where the faith
chapter is given, so that we can see what faith really
is.
Hebrews 11: 3
(3) Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed
by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which
do appear.
God did not take something to make something of something, but God took NOTHING, and out of nothing, God made something. But God had to be there
to make something out of nothing. If it had not been for God, it would not
have been possible.
Notice the
order. Stop here. Settle this verse before you go on. There is no room for doubt here. There is no
room for doubt in Genesis 1:1. If you are a Sunday school teacher, and you
have any question as to Genesis 1: 1, you owe it to your
students to quit teaching. If you are a preacher, and you doubt Genesis 1:1, you owe it to your congregation to quit preaching, if you don’t believe it.
We have to stop right there and settle
this – faith begins
with Genesis
1:1 “In the beginning, God created the
Heaven and the earth.”
And when your
faith starts to expand, take a look at the wood of the chairs that you are
sitting on, and the wood in those tables. Where did it come from? It came from
some tree some place. And where did the tree come from? It came from some
forest. And where did the tree come from in the beginning? – from a seed. Where
did the seed come from? It doesn’t matter what you look at. It doesn’t matter
what you touch. If you believe
Genesis 1:1, you have to put your hand on your desk, and say “In the
beginning God.”
I put my hand on everything I touch, and faith says, “Praise
God – “In the beginning God.” If it hadn’t been for God, there wouldn’t be any of us. And if it hadn’t been
for God, there wouldn’t be anything for us. But God has created all for us, and everything goes back to Him.
3. Psalms 33: 6-9
Lets read
another Scripture that verifies Genesis 1:1. I want you to notice the little
word ALL. And I will ask you the question “Do you believe?” as we read.
Psalms 33: 6-9
(6) By the word of the Lord
(exactly what
you have in Hebrews 11:3)
By the word of the
Lord were the heavens made; and all the
host of them by the breath of his mouth.
(7) He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap;
he layeth up the depth in storehouses.
(8) Let all the
earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand
in awe of him.
(9) For he spake (read it until you believe
it)
He spake, and it was done: he commanded,
and it stood fast.
Where did the sun come from? – it came from the Word of God. God spoke
the sun into existence. Where did all of those planets
come from? God spoke.
From the Word of God, they came into creation.
Psalms 90: 2
(2) Before the mountains were brought forth
It almost
sounds like a woman having a baby.
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst
formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God
Genesis 1:1 is
verified in Psalm 90. Who formed the earth? God did. Creation is not God. God existed perfect before creation.
I find a
wonderful order in the Psalm. I think, in this Psalm, you have the order of God’s creation.
Psalms 148: 1-14
(1) Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the Lord from the heavens:
praise him in the heights.
In the
beginning God created the Heaven and the earth. And so, the Heavens praise Him first.
(2) Praise ye him, all his angels: Praise ye him, all his
hosts.
In a later
study, I hope to show you that the angels were created before the earth. The angels are older than the earth – the next
in God’s creation.
(3) Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of
light.
(4) Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be
above the heavens.
(5) Let them praise the name of the Lord: for he commanded,
and they were created.
(6) He hath also stablished them for ever and ever; he hath
made a decree which shall not pass.
(7) Praise the Lord from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps:
(8) Fire, and hail; snow, and vapour; stormy wind fulfilling
his word:
There are so
many points of theology, if we would only read the Bible carefully. That is not my point
at the moment, but do you believe that fire
fulfills the Will of God? Hail? Snow? Storms? Wind? What
about when it blows down a church? Does it fulfill the Way of God? There are some people who say, “It is all right if it blows down the dance
hall, but it is all wrong if it blows down the church.
You better not believe that if you believe this. – They all
fulfill the Will of God.
(9) Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all
cedars:
(10) Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying
fowl:
(11) Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all
judges of the earth:
(12) Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children:
(13) Let them praise the name of the Lord: for his name
alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.
(14) He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of
all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise
ye the Lord.
Where did it
all come from? From beginning to end, from the Hand of God. In the beginning, God created. Praise God I believe it. Praise God, I accept
it. And we are not finished yet. We are going to read more Scripture. From
beginning to end God is presented as Creator of everything.
What we are
doing here, is once more illustrating the fact, that what is first introduced
in Genesis, is consistently taught throughout the entire Bible. And that
fact, we will be following through on other subjects as well.
6. Isaiah 40: 18-31
I think this
portion of Scripture is worthy of reading over many times -- the question asked
by the prophet. And then it gets back to our subject regarding God as Creator.
We are simply showing you that in order
to believe the rest of the Bible, you must believe the first verse of the Bible.
Isaiah 40: 18-31
(18) To whom then will ye liken God? Or what likeness will
ye compare unto him?
(19) The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith
spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.
(20) He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation
chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to
prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.
(21) Have ye not known? Have ye not heard? Hath it not been
told you from the beginning? (Genesis 1:1) have ye not understood from the
foundations of the earth?
(22) It is he that
sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as
grasshoppers, that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them
out as a tent to dwell in:
(23) That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the
judges of the earth as vanity.
(24) Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be
sown: yea, their stock shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root
in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the
whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.
(25) To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal?
Saith the Holy One.
(26) Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created
these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by
names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one
faileth.
(27) Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My
way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God?
(28) Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the
everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not,
neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding.
(29) He giveth power to the faint;
We have
mentioned, from the book of Romans, chapter one, that all men know two facts about God. They know from creation that God IS. (verse 28). And they know that God is powerful. And you have the same
thing in Isaiah 40, as you have in Romans, chapter one. Creation proves that
God IS and that God is POWERFUL. We referred to the passage, because, it proves again
that God is Creator.
7. Nehemiah 9: 6
We again, need
to emphasize the little word ALL.
Nehemiah 9: 6
(6) Thou, even thou, art Lord alone; thou hast made heaven,
the heaven of heavens, with ALL their
host, the earth, and ALL things that are therein, the seas,
and ALL that is therein, and thou preservest them ALL; and
the host of heaven worshippeth thee.
There you have
the word ALL, four times. And in all of those areas,
you can stop and think about it. All
that is in the Heaven, beyond your imagination – all that is in the earth,
beyond your imagination. And if you have had any experience in the sea – there
is much more in the sea than you can imagine. When you think of all that God has created; the Bible says that God is Creator of it ALL.
Thinking about
God creating ALL. When you think of men and angels, worms,
and insects, you can see how that can enlarge your thinking. When you start
thinking of worms and insects, why in the world did God make them all? My
little niece asked me, one day, “Why did God make mosquitoes?” I think that was
a good question. Well, why did He? Maybe when we get to the third
chapter, we will give you an answer to that one!
8. Acts 4: 24
Acts 4: 23- 24
(23) And being let go
The disciples
had suffered at the hands of the authorities.
And being let go, they went to their own company,
I rather like
that. When you are a believer, you know where your own company is.
And reported all that the chief priests and elders had said
unto them.
Then they had a
prayer meeting. And notice this recorded prayer of the disciples, a way back at
the beginning of the Church age.
(24) And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to
God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and
earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:
And so the same thing that you find in Nehemiah, you have here in
Acts 4.
9. Acts 14: 14-15
Acts 14: 14-15
(14) Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of,
they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,
(15) And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are
men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from
these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea,
and all things that are therein:
So you have it
in Nehemiah, and now we have it twice, in the book of the Acts, emphasizing God is Creator of all.
10. Colossians 1: 15-17
Reading, what I
consider to be some of the greatest verses on Christology that you can find in
the Bible, there are seven tremendous statements in this passage.
Colossians 1: 15-17
Notice the order
of Creation. Speaking of Jesus:
(15) Who is the image of the invisible God (the first
statement about Jesus) the firstborn of every creature (that is the second statement.)
Actually, it
would be better if it had been translated “creation.” He is the firstborn of,
not merely of that which is on creation, like men and angels, but of all creation. He is the Head of all creation.
(16) For by him were all things
created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible,
whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things
were created by him, and for him:
(17) And he is before all things,
and by him all things consist. (hold together)
So Colossians
bears on Nehemiah and Acts. God is Creator of all
things.
11. Ephesians 3: 9
We turn from
there now, to Ephesians. It fits in with the statement we just read
Ephesians 3: 9.
(9) And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the
mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who
created all things by Jesus
Christ.
And so as we
read, one Scripture adds to our information. All things are created by Jesus
Christ. Therefore, if you have someone who tells you he does not believe in the Deity
of Christ, you put that verse against the first verse of the Bible. In the
beginning God created. Ephesians 3:9 – God created all things by Jesus
Christ. You cannot accept Genesis 1:1 and Ephesians 3:9 and not believe in the absolute Deity of Christ. Did you see what I said? Do you see how it
goes together? ALL things were created by Jesus Christ.
12. John 1: 1-3
John 1: 1-3 Again, talking about creation.
(1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God.
(2) The same was in the beginning
with God.
(3) All things were made by him; and without him was not any
thing made that was made.
I just want to
branch off a little bit on that statement. You take the first chapter of John,
and in the first part, it tells you who
Jesus is. In the later part, it tells you what
Jesus does. But, here, I am told in the first two verses that Jesus is God.
And then in verse three, I’m told that He is Creator of all that is created.
John 20: 30-31
(30) And many other signs truly did Jesus
I want you to
notice, that what Jesus did in the Gospel of John, were signs to men. Don’t miss that.
And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which
are not written in this book:
(31) But these are written, that ye might
believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God: and
that believing ye might have life through his name.
Now, the purpose of the signs in John, is that we might believe that Jesus is who the Bible says He is.
John 1: 3
(3) By Him all things were created.
John 2. What is
the second chapter about? It’s about Jesus turning water into wine. You stop
and think about that. He went to a wedding. They didn’t have wine, and they
drew out from the water pots, the best wine
that they had ever tasted. And how is that possible? That sign is to teach me
that in the second chapter the Creator was present.
If you accept chapter one and verse three, that by him
were all things created,
then you have no problem with turning water into wine. Jesus made the water in the first place. And if He is Creator, He can do whatever
He likes!
John 6. It also
has to do with the Act of the Creator. The sixth chapter is the
story of the feeding of the five-thousand. Now, you’ve read it, perhaps many
times -- five-thousand men, we are told, in verse 10, besides women and
children. Quite a crowd! And at that occasion, there was one lad who had five
loaves and two small fishes. Better – five buns. Did you ever see a boy put a
lunch together? You can imagine what it looked like. Five buns thrown in with a
couple of fish. I think that the buns would be baked – don’t you? And I think
that the fish would be dead – don’t you? Dead fish, dead bun!
And what did
Jesus do? He took that which was only sufficient to satisfy a boy; and with that, He fed five-thousand men, besides women and children.
And when they were finished, there were twelve baskets left over, and me thinks
they were left for the boy! I kind of like that fact! That fellow had the
biggest lunch he ever had in his life.
He surrendered
what he had to the Lord.
And the Lord
took it, and multiplied it.
That’s one side
of the story. I can understand when you take wheat and grind it into flour and
knead it into dough, and make it into loaves and put it into the oven. And I
can understand live fish reproducing more fish. But here you’ve got dead fish reproducing fish,
and you’ve got baked buns
reproducing buns! It doesn’t make any sense unless you believe the One who
is handling the fish is the Creator, and the One who
is handling the loaves is the Creator. And if Jesus is Creator – He can make
buns any way He chooses. And He can make fish any way He chooses. I have to accept the first chapter in order to believe the sixth chapter.
I like the
ninth chapter best of all. The ninth chapter is the story of the man born
blind. And it would seem, as you read the story, that his sockets were there
for his eyes. But, if he had any eyeballs at all, they were shriveled up, and
it didn’t appear as though he had any.
I like talking
to children when I take the ninth chapter. I say to a little child “Would you
like me to put some mud in your eyes?” I don’t know a better way to blind a man
than that! But this story is the story of Jesus picking up some dirt, spitting
upon it, working it in his fingers, and then putting it into the sockets of
that man’s eyes. And then He said “Go wash” and the man went washing, and when
he came back, he came back seeing. Do you believe it?
You see, you
wouldn’t want me to put mud in your eyes, because you wouldn’t
come seeing if I did that. What’s the story? The whole story is this: It all
depends on who is handling the mud – doesn’t it? And who
is handling the mud in this case? – the Creator.
I have some mud
eyes who are doing some pretty good seeing yet. I’ve got mud eyes that are looking
at you. What’s happened to the mud that is behind there? They have been touched
by the Creator. And if the Creator can make eyes out of
mud for me, I have no problem with John chapter 9.
Go to the
eleventh chapter – raising the dead. Lazarus has been dead for four days and Jesus comes along and speaks the Word, and Lazarus comes out. Listen, it is not incredible for God
to raise the dead. And so, all of these things are written so that we might believe that Jesus is the Creator of all creation.
13. Hebrews 1: 1-3
Another
statement regarding this:
Hebrews 1: 1-3
(1) God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in
time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
(2) Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom
he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made
the worlds;
(3) Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express
image of his person, and upholding all things by the
word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the
right hand of the Majesty on high;
There you have
it stated twice.
All
things are made by Him. And in verse 3, all
things are preserved by Him. We read the first three verses of
chapter one. It talks about Jesus as Creator.
Now down to
verse 6:
John 1: 6-10
(6) There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
(7) The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the
Light, that all men through him might believe.
(8) He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of
that Light.
(9) That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that
cometh into the world.
(10) He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and
the world knew him not.
Just pull that
statement out of the verse. “the world was made by Him.” If you are going to believe the New Testament,
you have to believe in the Creation of the Lord Jesus.
Hebrews 2: 10
(10) For it became him, for whom are all things,
and by whom are all things,
You notice, I am back to that little word “ALL” again. It’s “for Him are
all things.” He is
the purpose of creation. And “by Him are
all things.” He is the Creator
of all creation.
Again, another
inference as Jesus being Creator.
Hebrews 3: 1-4
(1) Wherefore, Holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly
calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our
profession, Christ Jesus;
(2) Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also
Moses was faithful in all his house.
(3) For this man (Jesus) was
counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the
house hath more honour than the house.
(4) For every house is builded by some man; but he that
built all things is God.
See the
reference! You see the house, and you know that behind
the house is a builder. You see creation, and you know that behind creation is a Creator.
And the one who does the creating, has more honor than the creation. That is what Hebrews is telling
us.
14. Revelation 4: 11
I think this
verse, has in time past, brought me to the place where I feel that my heart has
worshipped. It says worship
God in the spirit.
And I believe I have had that experience of just reading and worshipping. And I
hope you will have it, as you read this verse:
Revelation 4: 11
(11) Thou art worthy, O lord, to
receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for
thy pleasure they are and were created.
What do I
worship about? Well, I am a created being, I have been created. I may be a very
small part of God’s creation, but I’m part of it. And you
are part of that creation. And is it not tremendous to, by faith believe,
that you have been created for the pleasure of God; that you have been created for His purpose. That is what it tells you.
I don’t
understand all the Ways of God. But I praise God that I have that
Revelation in His wonderful Word. There is a purpose
in life. There is a purpose in your life. There
is a plan connected with my life. And somebody says,
“What about the unsaved?” There is only one thing I will say at this point – I
read back in Psalms 1 that “the wicked are like the chaff.”
I don’t
understand the Ways of God. God knows I don’t understand the Ways of God. But I
have found out, by being a farmer in the past, that you can’t have any wheat in
the bin, if you haven’t had some chaff. Even chaff
becomes important for the purpose of having wheat. If I can understand that
point in the natural, then I can apply it to the Spiritual.
There must be a
reason God calls His people wheat. He calls those who are not his people chaff.
There is even a purpose in the chaff.
And so I am going to leave that with God. And praise God that is in the Bible –
all things, including the chaff are created for His Purpose and for His pleasure.
The lesson I am
insisting upon: – He is Creator, from Genesis to Revelation. That fact is never in question. To believe or accept the Bible,
one must accept the fact of God as Creator.
I cut out the
editorial page of the October 8, 1982, issue of Christianity Today. And in it, they quote the old Christian theologian, who wrote many years ago:
“What has Athens to do with Jerusalem? What does the
wisdom of this world have to do with Divine foolishness of God? We must rest
secure in our private faith, given to us in the Holy Scripture. We have no need
to become involved in the intellectual disputes of an unbelieving world.”
I think that
would save us a lot of trouble, if we will accept Genesis
chapter one, and what the Bible says of God as Creator. We don’t have to waste
our time dialoguing, and arguing, with blind unbelief that will always err. I rest my cause. I believe that God has
created all that there is, so I praise Him for that
Revelation.
5. In Creation, God Creates What He Wills
1. Acts 17: 24-28
At this point,
we enter a point of theology, that has been the cause of debate for centuries.
And I do not pretend to have any more answers than any
other man. No man has all the answers. We are going to read what the Bible says.
Acts 17: 24-28
Paul is on
‘Mars’ Hill. And he starts out with these learned people by saying:
(24) God that made the world and all things
therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples
made with hands;
(25) Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he
needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life,
and breath, and all things;
(26) And hath made of one blood all nations
of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath
determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
(27) That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might
feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
(28) For in him we
live, and move, and have our being;
What a
tremendous statement. We can’t get away from God, for in God we live, and move, and we have our being.
The whole creation lives in God. Never since His Creative Work began, has God severed His connection with His Creation.
2. Isaiah 14: 24
Isaiah 14: 24
(24) The Lord of hosts hath sworn,
saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have
purposed, so shall it stand:
Why did I put
that Scripture in there? Man had no say as to how many angels to create. Can you imagine God
doing something without first consulting men? Men have the idea that God can’t
do anything without them. But God made the angels
before He made men. And, therefore, God did not consult men
to ask how many angels to create. In the creation of the angels you have to
accept the Sovereignty of God.
Man had no say as to how many stars to be created. God had all the say. Man was not invited to tell God how many animals to
create. Man had no say
as to how many or what kind of birds to create. Man had no say as to the creation of bugs, of men, of
Nations, of tongues, of Jews, of Gentiles, or even Christians! God is Sovereign.
Now, can your heart say Amen, that in all
of those realms, God was Sovereign? Stop and think about it. God had all the say in all of those creations.
3. James 1: 18
Now, I don’t
want to flip anybody, and I don’t want to hurt anybody, but we are going to
read some Scriptures that are most difficult
for most men to accept. We have to accept the Sovereignty of God in the nature creation. I beg you to read this next
Scripture in the Name of the Lord, and accept it,
and don’t try and explain it – at least not yet, at this moment.
James 1: 18
(18) Of his own will begat
he us with the word of truth,
The Will of God is involved in our being begotten. Of His Own Will! God’s Will
is involved.
John1: 11-13
(11) He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
(12) But as many as received him, to them gave he power (ability)
to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Notice the
negatives here.
(13) Which were born, not of
blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the
will of man, but of God.
Which were born…..of God.
Of His Own Will begat He us. In the Spiritual realm God creates as He Wills. Do not let this upset you. God’s Will was
involved in my Salvation, and God’s Will was
involved in your Salvation.
Luke 19: 3-10
(3) And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for
the press, because he was little of stature.
(4) And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycamore tree
to see him: for he was to pass that way.
(5) And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw
him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for today I must
abide at thy house.
(6) And he made haste, and came down, and received him
joyfully.
(7) And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he
was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
(8) And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold,
Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor, and if I have taken any thing
from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
(9) And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to
this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
(10) For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that
which was lost.
Early in the
chapter, we are told that Zacchaeus sought to see Jesus, who He was. In verse
10, the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. It was Jesus who
was seeking Zacchaeus.
We often say, We sought the Lord. And there is a truth in that.
But that is only
true if He came seeking us first.
Romans 3: 11
(11) There is none that understandeth, there is none that
seeketh after God.
Now, you put it together. No man seeks after God. So, if one day you sought the Lord, you have to start praising the Lord
that He was seeking you first. And so the Lord
came seeking, and that is why you returned your seeking.
The Lesson
The lesson of all this:
Man
is not the Creator, God is.
Man
is not in control of creation, God is!
Man thinks one
day he will reproduce a perfect body (and never more so than today). In
fact, you find that there are some people who are having their bodies frozen. I
guess you have read about that. They are freezing their bodies because they expect
that man will be able to overcome death and
sickness.
They expect
that man, one day, is going to be as great as the Creator. But you see, imperfect parents cannot
re-produce perfect children. It will always break out some
place. And man cannot, by what he does, destroy the originals.
Illustration
Men may cross
white roses with red roses, but the result will always be the same. It will never change. If you cross white and red
roses, you will produce ½ pink roses, ¼ will remain white roses, and ¼ will
always remain red roses. That will never fail, because the originals cannot be destroyed. God has power to Create. And God has power to preserve
His creation. And He preserves it in Ways like that.
6. Therefore, It Should Be Without Question – Creation Proves That
God Is
Psalm 19: 1-7
(1) The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament
showeth his handiwork.
(2) Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night
showeth knowledge.
(3) There is no speech nor language, where their voice is
not heard.
(4) Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their
words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
(5) Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and
rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.
(6) His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his
circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
(7) The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the
testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
Romans 1: 19-20
(19) Because that which may be known of God is manifest in
them; for God hath shown it unto them.
(20) For the invisible things of
him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the
things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are
without excuse:
Note The Two Spheres Of Creation
Colossians 1: 16
(16) For by him were all things
created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth,
visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or
principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and
for him:
Notice the two
spheres of creation.
A. The Heavens
The Heavens.
What we call space. What I call “My Father’s House.” We have reference to the
Heavens in other Scriptures.
John 14: 1-2
(1) Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God,
believe also in me.
(2) In my Father’s house are many
mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go
to prepare a place for you.
Psalm 115: 16
(16) The heaven, even
the heavens, are the Lord’s: but the earth hath he given to the children of
men.
Psalm 147: 4
(4) He telleth the number of the stars; he
calleth them all by their names.
Psalm 8: 3-4
(3) When I consider thy heavens, the
work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
(4) What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son
of man, that thou visitest him?
B. The Earth
There are
things in Heaven, and there are things in earth that He has created. The things in earth, like things in the Heavens
are made of atoms. These are mini galaxies whirling in
space. I’m not a scientist. I’ve read a few things, but I don’t understand even
all that I have read.
Our bodies,
according to one writer, are made up of
1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
atoms. There is nothing but space between the atoms. Remove the space out of our
bodies, and you would be reduced -- not to a pail of dirt, but
a speck.
I used to
think, when I was a boy, that God had to take a pail of dirt
to make my body, but He didn’t. All He did was take a speck of dirt. And out of a speck of dirt – blow it up. So
if you could have all of the space removed between all of the atoms in your
body, it would take a microscope to find you. That makes you feel really big
doesn’t it! Your body is just a speck
of dirt, a speck
of nothing,
blown up.
But God is the Creator. How fearfully and
wonderfully we are made!
I always think of my stomach, when I talk about
this subject of being wonderfully made. Isn’t it wonderful that God created a stomach in me, that in sixty-four years of digesting tough
meat, and all the other things –has not yet digested itself! Isn’t that amazing? Think of all you put into your
stomach, and it digests what you put in it,
but it doesn’t digest the stomach!
Think of the
wonders of your eye. I saw a film by the Moody Bible
Institute. They put out a foot ruler, and they said -- imagine that the vision
that is possible, is one foot, or twelve inches. Go to the center of the ruler,
and mark ¼ inch. That is all you can see. Your eyes are so limited. Take a microscope and see what you can see with a microscope. Take a telescope
and see what you can see. All you are doing is putting on better eyes.
Dogs have better ears than you have. You have wonderful ears, but dogs have
better ones. That’s why dogs howl when they hear
a violin.
Regarding your nose: it is wonderful what you can smell, but I am told, if you stuff your nose, and blindfold
yourself, and eat onions and apples, you can’t
tell the difference. We smell
most of our food. We don’t taste it. That’s why you can’t tell the difference. Have
you ever noticed when you have a cold, you say, I can’t taste my food. Go on
with you! Your food hasn’t changed one little bit. The reason
you think you can’t taste it, is because you can’t smell it. But your nose is still wonderful anyway isn’t it.
The Animal Creation
Genesis 1: 20-25
(20) And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the
moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the
open firmament of heaven.
(21) And God created great whales, and every living creature
that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and
every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
(22) And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and
multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
(23) And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
(24) And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living
creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth
after his kind: and it was so.
(25) And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and
cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his
kind: and God saw that it was good.
Genesis 2: 19-20
(19) And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast
of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what
he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature that was
the name thereof.
To consider
this part of creation, one is amazed and overwhelmed.
The Vegetable Creation
Genesis 1: 11-12
(11) And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb
yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is
in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
(12) And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding
seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself,
after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
Just consider,
carrots, peas, corn, beans, potatoes, trees, flowers, etc. What a wonderful
creation!
The Invisible Creation
Colossians 1: 16
(16) For by him were all things created, that are in heaven,
and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or
dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and
for him:
Thrones,
Principalities and Powers.
1 Peter 3: 22
(22) (Jesus Christ) Who is
gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels
and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
The angelic
creation.
They are all under God’s control.
No man controls Creation.
