Written March 15, 2004

Our focus will be on two major subjects.

  1. The Book - The Bible
  2. The Person of the Book - Jesus Christ.

I  To believe in God apart from the Bible and Jesus Christ is not Christianity.

                        1 Peter 1:21

                        John 14:1

                        John 14:6

                        1 Peter 3:18

                        John 20:31

II  Our focus on the Bible.

1.      Assignment- learn the books of the Bible.

2.      The first major fact about the Bible is that it was given by the miracle of Divine Inspiration.

2 Timothy 3:16

                                    cf. Exodus 8:19

                                    Exodus 31:18

                                    Deuteronomy 9:10

                                    Daniel 5:4,(7,8,15,16,17,25)

                                    John 8:6

3.      “Inspired” means “God breathed”.

a. How did the worlds come into existence?

                                                Psalm 33:6

                                                Hebrews 11:3

                                    b. How did man come into existence?

                                                Job 33:4

                                                Genesis 2:7

                                    c. How did the Bible come into existence?

                                                2 Timothy 3:16

            4.  Partial inspiration is no inspiration.

All books can be partly true.

III  Our focus on Jesus Christ of the Bible.

1.       The first major fact about Jesus Christ is that He came into this world by means of the miracle of a Virgin birth.

 Matthew 1:18-23.

IV  We consider these four facts to be the pillars on which true Christianity stands.

1.      The Bible.

2.      The Inspiration of the Bible.

3.      Jesus Christ.

4.      The Virgin birth of Jesus Christ.

V  The Cap-stone proof of all is the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ.

                        Romans 1:1-4

                        1 Corinthians 15:1-4

                        1 Corinthians 15:12-20

                        Romans 10:9,10.

If one does not believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ, that one is not a Christian.
