In Colossians 1:12-14 there are five reasons for thanksgiving.

            Vs.12 – He hath made us meet(fit) to be with the saints.

            Vs. 13  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness

            Vs  13  Who hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son.

            Vs. 14  (In whom) we have redemption through His blood.

            Vs 14  (in whom) we have forgiveness of sins.

            These are not things God will do, but rather things He has already done.

 

First Vs 12 He hath made us fit to be with the saints in Heaven.

            Revelation 19:16  there are people in Heaven.

            Paul, Peter, James and John are now in Heaven.

            What made them fit to be there?

                                    1 Peter 3:18,    2 Corinthians 5:18

 

Second Vs 13 a.  He hath delivered us from the power of darkness.

            1 Thessalonians 5:4,5

            John 8:31,32, 36

            Philippians 1:28

            1 Timothy 1:7  compare Psalm 23:5

 

Third. Vs 13b.  He hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son.

            Acts 26:18

            1 Corinthians 6:19-20

            1 John 3:2

            We are no longer children of wrath  Ephesians 2:2-3

 

Four. Vs 14 a.  In whom we have  redemption.

            1 Peter 1:18-19

            Matthew 13:44-46

            Luke 10:34-35  Jesus paid it all.  Cf 2 Corinthians 8:9

 

Finally. Vs.14 b.  In whom we have forgiveness of sins.

            Acts 13:38
