The Bible Outlined

A Look at the Book

1 Corinthians 10:32

1. "HOLY BIBLE" MEANS WHAT TO YOU?

"Holy" in its simple definition, means "set-apart"

"Bible" simply means "book".

So we have a "set-apart book"

2. THE BIBLE BEGINS WITH THE FACT OF GOD.

Genesis 1:1  God the Creator.

We accept that or reject it, we cannot alter it.

Pro Shapley of Harvard stated:  "some people piously proclaim  "in the beginning, God". I say, "In the beginning Hydrogen".

We must consider this verse to be the gateway into all the Bible.

3. GENESIS CHAPTERS 1-3; THE BEGINNING OF THE HUMAN RACE.

A.  God created the first man and the first woman.

1. Corinthians 15:45

1 Timothy 2:13

You accept these Bible facts or you invent something else.

Evolution is a human invention.  Man has become wise in his own ideas. Romans 1:22 professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.  Said one; Not only a link is missing, the whole chain is missing. " no one has ever found a single transitional form in the fossil record between the invertebrates and fishes" C.T. Oct.8.1982 p33

B. They fell because of sin.

Romans 5:12

C. God promised a Saviour.

Genesis 3:15

The theme of the Bible is Christ.  Always remember this fact. Cf. Revelation 19:10.  To preach the Bible is to preach Christ.

4. GENESIS CHAPTERS 4-11; THE BEGINNING OF THE GENTILES.

A. First of families, then of Nations.

Genesis 10:5 the first time the word "gentiles" is used.

Genesis 18,20,31,32  "families"

Genesis 6:1 before the flood men had multiplied on the earth, after the flood they were reduced to three families.

B. Genesis 9:26, the Promised Saviour, Messiah, would come from Shem.

C.  See Joel 3:2

Joel 3:9

Joel 3:13

Joel 3: 17

Here are four different words, all meaning the same, and all referring to the Gentiles, Nations, Heathen, Strangers.

Cf. Ephesians 2:11-12.

5.  GENESIS 12-TO MALACHI 4; THE BEGINNING AND HISTORY OF THE JEWS.

A. The background of Israel.

Genesis 11:10-26  From Shem to Abram

Genesis 32:28  Jacob becomes Israel.

Exodus 1:1  The children of Israel are well identified.

B. These chapters have to do with:

The PEOPLE of Israel.

The LAND of Israel.

The PROPHETS of Israel.

The PRIESTS of Israel.

The KINGS of Israel and

The ENEMIES of Israel.

Only the Nations who have or will touch Israel are named.

Psalm.83:6-7  The enemies of the past are the enemies today.

If you give the Jew or Israel their place, then all the Bible makes sense. Cf. Romans 11:25 , Proverbs.26:12.

C. Interwoven, are promises to Israel, of a Messiah.

Isaiah 7:14  "How" he would be born.

Micah 5;2  "Where" he would be born.

Daniel 9:24-26  "When" he would be born.

Zechariah 9:9  "What" he would do.

Jeremiah 23:5  "Behold"  the Branch, a KING.

Zechariah 3:8  "Behold"  the Branch, a SERVANT.

Zechariah 6:12 "Behold"  the Branch, a MAN.

Jeremiah 33:14-15 "Behold" the Branch, the LORD.

6.  MATTHEW, MARK, LUKE AND JOHN.

A. Introduce Jesus as the Messiah of Israel.

Matthew1:1

John 1:41

B. Matthew says: Behold your KING O Israel.

There is a genealogy here.  And there is much about the Kingdom in this book

C. Mark says: Behold your SERVANT O Israel.

There is no genealogy here, it is not needed for a servant.

D. Luke says: Behold the MAN, O Israel.

In Matthew the genealogy only goes back to David and Abraham.  Here in Luke it  goes back to Adam, to be a true man.

E. John says, Behold the LORD, O Israel.

Matthew goes back to Abraham.  Luke goes back to Adam.  John goes back, back into eternity past, the beginning.

The stories in John are recorded to prove that He is Creator.

 chapters 2,6,9,11 etc.  cf 20:31.

F. In Matthew 16:18  The word "church" is found for the first time in the Bible.

And it was Jesus who introduced the church by saying I WILL build my church.

7.  ACTS TO JUDE- ALL ABOUT THE CHURCH.

A. The Founding is in Acts.

Acts 2:47

Acts 1  The beginning is at Jerusalem.

Acts. 28  It has already reached Rome.

Remember, the early church did not end in Acts 2!

B. The Floundering of the Early Church is found in the Epistles.

All the Epistles deal with problems that arose.

C. The Church will only be visibly perfect when the Lord Comes.

1 John 3:2

8.  REVELATION IS THE CONSUMATION.

First for the Church.

Then for the Jew.

Then for the Gentiles.

Then all things new.

Ephesians. 3:21.

Ephesians 2:7
