I              Review

The same prophets who foretold the events of the First Advent of Jesus Christ, at the same time of writing, foretold the events of the Second Advent of Jesus Christ.

We reason: this being so, if the prophecies of the First Advent were literally fulfilled (as they have been), then the prophecies of the events of the Second Advent must be fulfilled as literally as those of the First Advent.

II           After the resurrection, explaining the Old Testament, Jesus spoke of “sufferings” and “His glory” as being in all Old Testament Scriptures

         Luke 24:25-27

1)      These two aspects of His ministry are typified in Old Testament history

a         Joseph: tested, tried, imprisoned Genesis 39:20

Christ typified in His First Advent

From the Prison to Prime Minister Genesis 41:14,40,45

Christ typified in His Second Advent

b        Moses: presented himself to Israel, rejected Exodus 2:14-15; Acts 7:25

Given a gentile bride Exodus 2:21

Christ typified in His First Advent

The Second Time, Moses was believed and received Exodus 4:29-31

Christ typified in His Second Advent

c         David and Solomon

David the suffering king- joined by those in trouble 1 Samuel 22:2

Christ typified in His first Advent

Solomon, the King in all his glory

Christ typified in His Second Advent

e         Mount Moriah: the place of Calvary, the cross

Christ typified in His first Advent

Mount Zion, the place of the throne, the crown

2)      Two-thousand years ago the disciples saw the “glory,” but failed to see the “sufferings”

Matthew 16:21-23

Mark 8:27-33

John 20:8,9

3)      Today, believers must accept the literal Sufferings, but many are failing to see His literal coming day of Glory on this earth 1 Peter 5:1
