Introduction
Proverbs 6:20 forsake
not the law of thy mother
Proverbs 15:20
a foolish man despiseth his mother
Proverbs 23:22
despise not thy mother when she is old
I Mother – Teach your children the way of
Salvation
2 Timothy 1:5 Timothy’s grandmother, and mother are named his
teachers
2 Timothy 3:14-15 the Scriptures make wise unto salvation
II Mother – Teach your children “the fear of the Lord”
Proverbs 1:7 beginning of knowledge
Proverbs 9:10 beginning
of wisdom
This “fear” is
“reverence”. This fear of God comes
with daily Bible reading and prayer with your children
III..Mother – Teach your children obedience
Ephesians 6:1 obey ..this is right
Colossians 3:20 obey this is well pleasing to the Lord
IV Mother - prepare your heart to
teach what is right and what is wrong
1 Kings 3:9 pray this prayer , mother
Romans 12:9 abhor
that which is evil
Romans 12:21 overcome
evil with good
Hebrews 5:14 discern both good
and evil
V.. Mother – Teach
standards for your children
1 Some things are definitely wrong
Ephesians 4:28-29 stealing
and fowl language
1 Thessalonians 4:3 fornication
Hebrews 13:4 adultery
2. Some things are definitely right
a. Romans 13:1
to be subject to higher
powers
Eg. Teachers,
policemen, the laws of the land
b.
2 Thessalonians 3:10 it
is right to work
cf Ephesians 4:26 , Ezekiel 16:49-50
c.
1 Peter 3:8 have compassion, be pitiful of others, be
courteous
Mother is the best
teacher of such manners. Good manners at home will manifest themselves away
from home
d.
1 Timothy 2:9-10 modest apparel
e Titus 2:3-5 mother’s are the best teachers of
things here named “good”
VI Conclude
1 Timothy 6:17 teach the children that you want them to enjoy life. Never give the impression that to be a
Christian is to cease to enjoy life
