I  The Bible was given to be Read

            Deuteronomy 17:18-19  write a copy (Books of Moses)  he shall read all the days

            Matthew 19:3-4  have ye not read…?

            Luke 6:3  have ye not read …what David did?

            1 Thessalonians 5:27  I charge you by the Lord Jesus that this epistle be read

            Revelation 1:3  blessed is he that readeth…

 

II  The Bible was given to be Studied.

            2 Timothy 2:25  study- that is God’s command, not our idea

                        Do so for God’s approval  cf Galatians 1:10

                        So you will not be ashamed of your work

                        Rightly dividing the Word of truth

            2 Timothy 2:16  shun

                        Be a Berean  Acts 17:10-11

 

III  The Bible was given by Inspiration

            2 Timothy 3:14-17  all scripture is given by inspiration of God

 

IV  Some Words to Understand

 

  1. Regeneration – Titus 3:5

A work of the Holy Spirit that makes a sinner into a saint.

 

2        Sanctification – 2 Thessalonians 2:13

A continuing work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer  cf Philippians 2:12-13

 

3        Revelation – 1 Corinthians 2:9-11

A work of the Holy Spirit making known what otherwise could not be known.

 

  1. Illumination – Ephesians 1:17-18

A work of the Holy Spirit helping us to understand the revelation in the Scriptures

 

  1. Inspiration – 2 Timothy 3:16

A work of the Holy Spirit directing men to write and speak what God wanted written and spoken
