Text 2 Timothy 2:15 Study…..the Word of Truth

During the reign of King Rehoboam Israel was divided. Ten tribes were called “Israel” Judah and Benjamin “Judah” and these two tribes were called “Jews”.

I “Jew” and “Israel” are used interchangeably in the New Testament.

Of Jesus Matthew 2:2 he was born King of the Jews

John 1:49 he was called King of Israel

Nicodemus John 3:1 a ruler of the Jews

John 3:10 a master of Israel

Peter’s sermon Acts 2:5 In Jerusalem—Jews

Acts 2:22 ye men of Israel

Paul Acts 21: 17-28 uses both terms ‘Jews’ and ‘ ye men of Israel’

Romans 9:1-4 my brethren who are Israelites

Philippians 3:5 Paul was of the Tribe of Benjamin, therefore also a ‘Jew’

II Some specific prophecies relative to the Jews of Israel

1) They would be scattered from their land

Leviticus 26:33 I will scatter you

Deuteronomy 4:27 I will scatter you among the peoples

Deuteronomy 28:64 will scatter you among all people

Ezekiel 22:15 I will scatter you among the nations

Cf. Esther 3:6,8 and James 1:1

2) Their land would become desolate

Leviticus 26:32 I will make the land desolate

Ezekiel 6:14 I will make the land desolate

Ezekiel 15:8 I will make the land desolate

3) The sufferings of the people would be severe

Leviticus 26:27-31 if ye will not… then I will

Deuteronomy 28:37 be astonishment and a proverb…

Jeremiah 24: 9 deliver them …to trouble

Romans 11:22 in Jewish history God has revealed His severity

4) But as a people they would survive

Leviticus 26:44 (I) will not cut you off ( Romans 11:1-2

Jeremiah 30:11 will not make a full end of you

Ezekiel 11:16 I will be a little sanctuary to them

5) Prophecy foretold their re-gathering to their land

Isaiah 11:11-12 gather from the four corners of the earth

Ezekiel 36:24 gather you from all countries.

Ezekiel 39:25-29 gather until none are left any other place in the world.
