Illustrations of Inspiration- II

Lesson III

April 29, 2007

I  Texts

2 Timothy 2:15  study ..the word.  Why should we ?

2 Timothy 3:16  because all is inspired of God, that is, God-breathed.

II  Notice three declared facts

Psalm 33:6  by the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all…by the breath of his mouth   cf verse 9

Job 33: 4… the breath of the Almighty hath given me life

This is true of all human beings.

2 Timothy 3:16  all Scripture is God breathed

cf  1 John5:10 the record God gave.

III  We continue to illustrate Inspiration as found in the Old Testament

There is no true understanding of the New Testament and no true appreciation for the whole Bible without a working knowledge of the Old Testament. Cf Matthew 22:29

5        Jeremiah 36:1-32  Jeremiah had to be inspired by God to re-write every word exactly as had been written in the scroll had been put in the fire by King Jehoiakim.

6        Numbers 22:28-31  God inspired a donkey.  God made that donkey say to Balaam what God wanted said.

7        Numbers 22:7-8  the elders of Moab came to Balaam.

Numbers 22:8   Balaam said the Lord shall speak unto me

Numbers 22:12  God said to Balaam thou shalt not go with them

Numbers 22:17  Balak said :I will promote thee”

Numbers 22:18  Balaam said I cannot go beyond the word of the Lord

Numbers 23:5  The Lord put a word in Balaam’s mouth cf vss 7-8 and 26

God used, inspired, a false prophet  Jude 11-13

8        Daniel 5:1-5  fingers were a hand were moved to write inspired words.

9        John 19:19-22  God inspired Pilate to write what he wrote

10    John 20:22  Jesus ‘breathed on’  inspired, his disciples

11    Luke 1:3  having perfect understanding of all things from the very first..

Scofield  From the very first”: Gr. Anothen  “from above” So translated in John 3 3:31  etc.”  To have perfect understanding could only come by inspiration from above

Conclusion

If the Bible is not inspired, all reason for believing in Bible authority is gone.
