III  We look at the links in Old Testament History

Genesis ‘links’ are by the names of individuals.

Genesis chapters 1-5  Adam,(5:4) Seth (5:28-29) Lamech , Noah

Genesis chapters6-11 Noah (5:32) Shem (11:21) Eber(11:26) Terah, Abram

Genesis chapters 12-20  history regarding Abram, renamed Abraham

Genesis chapters.21-24  history of Isaac from birth to his marriage

Genesis chapters 25-36  history of Jacob and his family

Genesis chapters 37-50  history of Joseph.  Read again , Genesis 50:26

The history and geography are linked throughout.  It is all fact or fiction

Exodus 1:1 opens , only understood if we have read Genesis.

Exodus 40:33-38  concludes with the completed Tabernacle

Leviticus 1:1-2  history and geography linked with Exodus

Leviticus 27:34  with history and specific geography

Numbers 1:1  packed with history and geography found in the preceding books

Numbers 36:15  concludes with history and geography

Deuteronomy 1:1-5  opens with the same geography  that concluded Numbers

Deuteronomy 34:5-8  history of the death of Moses

Joshua 1:1-2  After the death of Moses, go over Jordon

Joshua 24:29-33  history of the death of Joshua

Judges 1:1-2   after the death of Joshua

            Joshua 21:19-25  history and geography

Ruth 1:1  the story is during the days of the Judges

Ruth 4:22   Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David

Thus from Adam to David (Genesis to Ruth) there is a continued story about Israel and their land.

Samuel to Malachi history, geography of Israel, filled with promises to David’s seed.

Job is the only book not related to David and his family. But what a type of Israel!

Job 1:3,8, so very blessed at his beginning

Job 1:14-22  then suffers the loss of everything

Job. 42:12  at the end , given twice as much as before.
