I There are four facts
about the Bible we will consider
1. The Bible is a Divine Revelation
2.
The Bible was given by Divine Inspiration
3
The Bible needs Divine Interpretation
4. Such interpretation is possible because of
Divine Illumination
II Two Books in
the Bible reveal human reasoning without Divine Revelation
These books are Job and
Ecclesiastes
1 Job
The oldest book in the
Book of Books
Job did not have the
books of Moses
Genesis 5:5 Adam lived for 930 years
Genesis 9:28-29 Noah lived 350 years after the flood, died at 950
Years!
Job and his friends had
first hand information
Here is human reasoning
and wisdom without revelation
Note what we are told
Job 1:3 Job, the greatest man of the east
Job 13:2 not inferior to his three friends
Job 8:8-9 speaks of a “former age,
wiser than they”
Job 31:33 Adam is named
Job 22:16 the flood ( before it, the former
age)
Job 10:9 they knew they were made of clay…
These men did not
question the existence of God-
They had many unanswered questions
Job 9:1 how can a man be just before God?
Job 11:7 can a man by searching find God?
Job 14:4 can a clean thing come
from and unclean thing?
Job 14:14 if a man
die will he live again?
Job 23:3 the desire of the human heart
Job 19:23 Job did not know that
his prayer would be answered
The Bible
is the Revelation from God giving answers to these questions
2. Ecclesiastes
1 Kings3:12 written by the wisest man under the sun
Ecclesiastes 1:13 here and elsewhere he
acknowledges God
Cf
Romans 1:19-20
Here
is human wisdom at the best
Although
he had the Books of Moses, they were not complete revelation
Without
Divine revelation from God, “all is vanity under the sun”
III The Bible is
a special revelation given to men
from God by the Holy Spirit
1 John 5:10
all is the record God has
given
