Credentials -  VII

Christ, King of the Kingdom

February 8, 2009

Introduction

Matthew 1:1 The greatest credential of Jesus Christ’s humanity is that He is “the son of David”

Romans 1:3   The greatest credential of His Deity is His “resurrection”

Acts 2:22 Ye men of Israel- you know who Jesus of Nazareth is-you know him well

Acts 2:25  David was speaking about Him when he called Jesus “LORD” cf Psalm 16:8

Acts 2:29-31 if you are not looking for a resurrected man to sit on David’s throne you are looking in the wrong direction. One cannot speak of a throne without thinking about a kingdom.

We believe there are three aspects to this kingdom

I  The universal Kingdom of God . It has always existed

We mean: that sphere in which God is in all and over all.

To men, this is a  mystical kingdom

John 18:36    a kingdom not like this world that fights for rights

John 3:1-8   that kingdom into which we “see” and “enter” by a new birth

Hebrews 12:22-24 perhaps gives us the inhabitants of this kingdom

Opposed to this kingdom is the kingdom of the Devil and darkness

Matthew 12:26  Jesus acknowledged the existence of this kingdom

Acts 26:18  to be in it is to be in darkness

Colossians 1:13 under the power of darkness

      2 Corinthians 4:4  with a blinded mind

Ephesians 2:2 influenced by the Prince of the power of the air

II  The present mystery form of the Kingdom

Matthew 13:25  tares and wheat together

Matthew 13:33  leaven in the good meal

Matthew 13:48   good fish and bad fish in the same net

“Christendom” a mixture of saved and unsaved.

We, “sons of God”, among those who are “not sons of God”

III  The future manifest  form of the kingdom in the millennium

The “kingdom of Heaven” (Matthew3:2, and only found in Matthew) will be the

promised Kingdom, yet to come.  Because it is an aspect of the one Kingdom

it is also rightly called the kingdom of God

Matthew 6:10 will be answered. God’s will, will be on earth as it is now in Heaven

Deuteronomy 11:21 as days of heaven upon earth

Luke 19:11  some thought this kingdom would immediately appear

Luke 23:51 the kingdom for which Joseph of Arimathaea waited

Acts 1:6-7  the restored Kingdom to Israel the Apostles looked for

Micah 4:6-8   the Kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem

Luke 13:28-29  an event that cannot happen without a resurrection

Luke 14:15   this kingdom will be blessed

Luke 9:27-33  cf 2 Peter 1:16-18 the transfiguration was a preview of the days when the Lord sets up this kingdom

Revelation 20:1-7 are these verses true? The kingdom comes for 1000 years

1 Corinthians 15:24-25  He must reign, then, deliver up this kingdom

Do not the following Scriptures demand such a Kingdom and rule?

Zechariah 9:9-10  dominion from sea to sea.  True or false?

Zecharaiah14:9   he shall be king over all the earth . True or false?

Jeremiah 23:5     a  King shall reign in the earth.  True or false?

Matthew  19:28    when the Son of man shall sit on the throne…True or false?

Matthew 25:31    Son of man shall come..sit upon the throne… True or false?

Knowing that the majority of Bible readers do not believe that Jesus is coming back to reign on this earth, we have inserted these questions. I urge you to consider what the Scriptures say. It is not a matter of believing what I or any other man says!

A theology that replaces the Church for Israel, of necessity, can no longer believe in this millennial reign of Christ on earth.

But for those who believe what the Scriptures say, the millennium is necessary to fulfill the promise made to David that he would have a Son to sit on his throne. It will also see all the promises made to Israel have a full, literal fulfillment.
