Resurrection – I

I    There will be a resurrection of the just and the unjust

      Acts 24:14,15  both the just and the unjust

      Acts 23:6-8      hope of the resurrection of the dead

      John 5:28-29   all that are in the graves

      Luke 14:14      the resurrection of the just

Proverbs 10: 6,7,11,16 contrast between the righteous and the wicked, this will also be seen at the resurrection

 

II  The first resurrection is the resurrection of the just, the second that of the unjust

There are those who believe that Ephesians 2:1  ‘you hath he quickened’ to be the first resurrection. But that is a  resurrection of the spirit, not the resurrection of the body.  Our subject is the resurrection of the body.

Revelation 20:4-6  this is speaking about those, after being beheaded, living again, and being part of the first resurrection

Verse 6 this first resurrection is ‘blessed and holy’

             On such the second death hath no power

 

III   The Scriptural headquarters for the doctrine of bodily resurrection is    

            1 Corinthians chapter 15

            1 Corinthians 15:12  he wrote this because some said there was no resurrection

            1 Corinthians 15:35  others were asking ‘how are the dead raised?

 

IV   The Bible doctrine of  the resurrection of the dead is based on the fact  of the bodily Resurrection of Jesus Christ

            1 Corinthians 15:1-4  the Scriptures declare it

            1 Corinthians 15:5-7  the Apostles declare it.  They were chosen witnesses of it

                        Acts 1:1-3 and Acts 2:21-22

            1 Corinthians 15:6  above 500 witnessed it at one time

            Acts 15:7  Last of all He was seen  of Paul

                        Cf  Acts 9:3-6  when and were,

                              Acts 9:11-15  why he saw Him

 

V   We have no salvation or hope without the bodily resurrection of Christ

      1 Corinthians 15:1-19  read it

 

VI  Conclude:  No one is saved who rejects the bodily resurrection of Christ

            Romans 10:8-10
