Introduction- Things
to Remember about the Book of Daniel
It is our
opinion, that it will help us understand the Minor Prophets better, if we have
a working knowledge of the Book of Daniel
1 Ezekiel
14:14,20 -
Daniel is named as “a righteous man”, as are Noah and Job.
2 Daniel
9:23 Daniel is called
“dearly beloved” by the Lord
3 Matthew
24:15 Jesus
called “Daniel the prophet”
Cf Deuteronomy
18:22
Deuteronomy
13:1-5
1
Corinthians 14:37-38
2
Peter 2:1 it is my opinion
that many false teachers today are
calling themselves “prophets”
4
When Daniel speaks of “my
people”, he always means “Israel”
5
When Daniel speaks of “my land’ he always means, “land of
Israel” Genesis 15:18-21
6 When
Daniel speaks of “my God” he
means the “God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob”
Cf Daniel 2:21 God of my fathers
Genesis
31:42 God of Abraham
Exodus
3:6 God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
Exodus
5:1 Lord God of Israel
Matthew 22:32 God
of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
7 Eleven
of the twelve chapters begin with the name of a Gentile King
8 The book begins the “Times of the Gentiles’, and
concludes these times (Luke 21:24)
9 We believe the Babylonian Captivity of Israel
becomes a type of the Great Tribulation, that will take place just before the
Second Coming of Christ (Matthew 24:29-20)
10 The Captivity in Daniel,
foreshadows the kind of troubles the Jews will suffer in their time of trouble
(Jeremiah 30:7). It also foreshadows the
ways God will preserve His people, the Jews, during that time of trouble.
