I
Daniel 2: 31-38
Daniel describes the dream to Nebuchadnezzar
We must pay close attention to
these verses before we try to interpret them.
Daniel 2:31 “Thou, O King, saw a great
image. We shall learn that this
image pictures “the times of the Gentiles” and their end.
Daniel 2:31 the form thereof was terrible.
The history of the “times of the
Gentiles” from beginning to end will be terrible. Luke 1:71, Psalm 74:20
We shall learn that the image was
in the form of a man
II Daniel 2:32 a, the Head - Fine gold
b, the breast and arms – of
silver
c, the belly and thighs -
of brass
This is not the picture of
evolution but deterioration
Mark well: there are three distinct, separate
parts, to the image, in this one verse.
III Daniel 2:33 a, his legs - of iron
b. his feet - part of
iron and part of clay
Two more distinct,
separate parts to the image
IV Daniel 2:34 a Stone smites the image. Notice , not on the
legs, but on the feet and
on the toes.
Luke 20:17-18
The falling Stone destroys the image
(read the first part of verse 35.)
V
Daniel 2:35
a. The image is
completely removed
b, The stone becomes a great mountain
c, he Mountain fills the whole
earth
VI There should be
no doubt that all the parts of the Image stone and Mountain are symbols
We will attempt to show
you that each part of the image represents a different Period of time.
It would be inconsistent to teach
that the time of “Iron and clay” is the same time
As that of the “iron”, as it would
be inconsistent to say that the time of the “silver” is the same time of that
of the “gold”.
We shall learn that each part of
the image represents world gentile governments.
The image does not suggest human
progress. Nor a better world, but rather worse and worse.
Luke 21:26 Men’s
heart will fail “looking after” things!
