(Part four)

Lesson Eight

Daniel Interprets the Dream

January 30, 2011

I  Daniel 2: 36  Last week we looked carefully at the facts in the dream

Now, Daniel will interpret the dream Nebuchadnezzar had had

.

II  Daniel 2:37

    1.     King, you are what you are because of the God of Heaven.

You have what you have because of His mercy and His grace.

1 Corinthians 15:10 by the grace of God we have what we have

1 Corinthians 4:7 what hast thou that thou didst not receive?

    2.     The God of Heaven hath given you:

A kingdom, power, strength and glory – none is of you!

            Romans 13:1-4, 1 Peter 2:13-15

    3.     Thou art this head of Gold.  So we learn, had not only made

Nebuchadnezzar the king, had given him the kingdom, of which he was head.

His was the first Gentile Kingdom to have dominion over the King of Israel.

    4.     In Daniel chapter 3, Nebuchadnezzar makes a great image, covers it with gold,

and calls upon all to worship his idol Daniel 3:5.

    5.     How soon did he forget the message that it was the God of Heaven who had

given him his position as king.

    6.     Today, people like him, believe part of God’s message, but soon forget His

warnings about judgment, wrath, destruction and Hell.

    7.     “The pit” reveals the “depths of hell”

            Numbers 16:30-33 “into the pit”

Ezekiel 26:20 “into the pit” as also Ezekiel 28:8, 31:14, 16,32:18,24,25,29,30

III  Daniel 2:39  After this – The Silver

Another kingdom shall arise inferior to thee

Daniel 5:28-31 tells the story of the Medes and Persians (two arms) one night

            destroyed the mighty Babylon.

Thus, literally fulfilling the prophecy of Daniel.

IV.  Daniel 2:39 The Brass – another third kingdom

Daniel 8:21 we know from what follows, this was the kingdom of Greece,

led by Alexander the Great. Thus, another prophecy about a Gentile kingdom,

literally fulfilled.  It is well known history.

V   Daniel 2:40 the Iron represents a “fourth kingdom”

Following the path of history, this must be the Roman Empire.  Rome had world-

power when Christ came.  Luke 2:1-2
