I Romans 4:5

to him that worketh not

but believeth on him that justifies the ungodly

his faith is counted for righteousness

II Learn some lessons about Faith

Hebrews 11:6 without faith it is impossible to please God

Romans 14:23 whatsoever is not of faith is sin

Proverbs 21:4 plowing of the wicked is sin

Isaiah 64:6 deeds without faith are filthy rags

Thus a man or woman without faith cannot do anything that is good in the sight of God

III All men have not Faith

2 Thessalonians 3:1-2 men without faith are unreasonable

2 Timothy 1:5 there is a genuine faith

IV The Bible is the source of genuine Faith

Romans 10:17 faith cometh by hearing the Word

2 Timothy 4:1-2 we are instructed to preach the Word

1 John 5:4 overcome by our faith

V This Faith is made up of three parts

1) Knowledge

Hebrews 11:3 by faith we understand

There is no such thing as “blind faith”

Consider the Bible the Book of knowledge

Hosea 4:6 to reject the Bible is to reject knowledge

John 5:46,47 believe Moses – believe Jesus, reject Moses - reject Jesus

2) Believe

We do not believe in ignorance, we can only believe if we know certain facts

1 John 5:10 faith is the ability to believe what God says in the record God has given of His Son

Titus 1:2 faith says, “God cannot lie”

1 Timothy 1:15 the record says Christ came. Do you believe it?

1 Corinthians 15:3 Christ died for our sins. Do you believe it?

Matthew 28:6 Christ arose from the grave. Do you believe it ?

Acts 1:10 Christ returned to Heaven. Do you believe it?

Hebrews 7:25 Christ lives to make intercession for believers. Do you believe it?

John 14:3 He will come again. Do you believe it?

These facts all stand together or they all fall together

But genuine faith believes God’s Word because it is God’s Word

3) Trust

I may know Christ died for my sin.

I may believe Christ died for my sin.

The proof that I believe is when I trust what I believe because I know

Galatians 2:20 we believe therefore trust it

Psalm 23 is a Psalm of trust

Psalm 34:8 blessed is the man that trusteth in Him

Proverbs 3:5 trust in the Lord with all thine heart…

You can never trust what you do not believe

You can never believe what you do not know

You can never know the things of God and His Son apart from the Bible
