The Feasts of the Lord

God’s Great Plan for Israel

Leviticus 23

Lesson I

February 03, 2008

“To be wrong about Israel ... is to be wrong on almost everything in the Bible” (Berean Call)  see Romans 11:25

I  We list the Feasts in this chapter

            Leviticus 23:5    passover

            Leviticus 23:6    unleavened bread

            Leviticus 23:10  firstfruits

            Leviticus 23:16  fiftieth day

            Leviticus 23:24  trumpets

            Leviticus 23:27  atonement

Leviticus 23:34   tabernacles

II Repeatedly called the feasts of the Lord

            Leviticus 23: 2,4,44

III Israel was to remember their Exodus from Egypt

Leviticus 23: 33  brought out of Egypt

Leviticus 23: 43   brought out of Egypt

IV. References to the Exodus abound in the Scriptures

Jeremiah 16:15,16   it shall be no more said…

Micah 7:15    according to thy coming out of Egypt

There will be another exodus greater than the first, for Israel

V.   The Children of  Israel,, only Israel,  were to keep these feasts

       Leviticus 23  4,6,7,8, 10,24  “ye”

VI   For many years they did not keep ‘Tabernacles’ as instructed

Nehemiah 8:17  the remnant from Babylon did

VII  Children of this remnant became like their fathers

Malachi 1 : 8,  they offered the blind, the lame and the sick

Malachi 1:10  they wanted ‘pay’ for everything they did

Malachi 1:13   there service for the Lord was a weariness

Malachi 2:7,8   the priests (leaders) departed out of the way

VIII   400 Years later, Jesus Came

John 5:1  feast of the Jews

John 7:2  feast of the Jews

No longer “feasts of the Lord”

IX  The Great Lesson

When the ordinances God has ordained,  (water Baptism, the Lord’s Table for us)

become mere rituals, they are no longer owned of God

Isaiah 1:13-16   ..your  appointed feasts I hate

Revelation 3:20   Jesus was outside the door of the Church at Laodicea.

May He never be outside our doors!
