God’s Great Plan for Israel

The Feast of Unleavened Bread

Lesson 1V

February 24, 2008

Introduction

Leviticus 23: 5  The feast of Passover was connected with Israel’s redemption.

1 Corinthians 5:7  Christ fulfilled every aspect of the type of the Passover Lamb

1  Leviticus 23:6  The Feast of unleavened bread

1. It began the day after Passover. Without Passover, no other feasts would have   followed.   There could have been no other

2. Exodus 12:14-17  It was a memorial feast looking backward to Israel’s separation from Egypt.

It speaks of communion with God on the basis of redemption  As Passover pictures separation from Egypt, this feast pictures separation unto  God

3. Galatians 6:14  the cross detached us from the world; feasting on Christ we become attached to Heaven.  This world is not our home. We are pilgrims in it.

II  1 Corinthians 5:8  Living in Shem’s Tents, we are to keep this feast

1.      not with leaven of malice and wickedness

1 Peter 2:1  lay aside

Ephesians 4:25   putting away

Colossians 3 8-9  put off the old

2.      Ephesians 4:24  put on the new man

Colossians 3:10   put on

1 Corinthians 5:8 sincerity and truth

3.   This feast typifies fellowship with God

1 Corinthians 1:9  called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord

2 Corinthians 1:12  a life of simplicity and godly sincerity

                   1 Corinthians 15:10   a life of grace

III  Two things are required at this feast.

1.      No leaven.  “There must be no leaven in anything that represents Christ”

Here we feast on “the bread that came down from heaven  John 6.

2.      No human works are to be added.  We feast on that which Christ has done.

Not on anything we have done.

IV  Therefore:

Ephesians 5:11  we have no fellowship with unfruitful works

2 Corinthians 6:14 we cannot fellowship with unrighteousness

1 John 1:7  as we walk in the light , we can have fellowship with each other

Think on this:  The fellowship of believers is a Feast to the Lord.
