We shall look at the meaning of ‘words’ in this lesson

I Fundamentals- dictionary- belonging to the foundation, that on which a thing rests

Luke 1:1 the things we most surely believe

Psalm 11:3 if the foundations be destroyed…..

Luke 6:48-49 Jesus illustrated the importance of the foundation

1 Corinthians 3:11 our foundation is Jesus Christ

2 Timothy 2:19 the foundation of God standeth sure.

II Evangelicals – the dictionary

Evangel – brings good news

Evangelist - a protestant minister

Evangelize - preach the gospel

Evangelical - agreement with the Christian gospel as presented in the 4 gospels

Luke 2 :10 we bring good tidings of great joy- evangel

Ephesians 4:11 He gave some evangelists- origin- of the evangelist

Mark 16:15 go to the world and preach the gospel- evangelization

John 3:16, John 14:6 God gave His son, the only way. Original Evangelicals

Today we have ‘neo’ evangelicals. Ramm calls them “Green grass Evangelicals”

III Christian.

Acts 11:26 disciples were called Christians first at Antioch

Acts 26:28 almost persuadest me to be a Christian

1 Peter 4:16 if a man suffer as a Christian

These are the only time the word is found in the Bible.

A Christian is one who has a right relationship with Jesus Christ

IV The Faith

Jude 3 “ye should earnestly contend for the faith..”
