How God Sees People

Lesson V

King Saul - IV

December 31, 2006

I  God sees people as being one of the following:

1 Corinthians 2:14  a natural man – unsaved, unbelieving man

1 Corinthians 2:15  a spiritual man – saved, in right relationship with the Spirit

1 Corinthians 3:1  a carnal man – saved, but living like a natural man

We are using the Kings of Israel-Judah as examples of these types of men

II  Saul, the first king, we concluded, is an example of a saved, carnal man

III  We looked at Saul’s beginning as King. Begins to Live in Disobedience

            All looked good.

IV  We began to look at his Backslidings

1.         1 Samuel 13:13  Saul does foolishly

2.         1 Samuel 15:1, 3, 9, 20-23  these verses are revealing

                        a. Vs. 9  - reveals Saul’s disobedience

                        b. Vss 15, 20, 21 he blames the people for what he has done

                        c. Vs 23 God named his actions to be rebellion and stubbornness.

These are steps that lead to carnality.

3.         1 Samuel 15:24  Saul said, “I have sinned.”

4.         1 Samuel 15:30  Saul’s strange request reveals his heart

I have sinned – yet honour me

5.         1 Samuel 18:1-9  Saul is overcome by a jealous spirit

                        a. Seeks to slay David 1 Samuel 18:11, 12, 25, 29

1 Samuel 19:1, 2, 10

1 Samuel 23:14

b. Seeks to slay Jonathan  1 Samuel 20:32-33,

                        c. Seeks the priests of the Lord  1 Samuel 22:17-18

V  Conclude

1 Samuel 26:21  said Saul “ I have played the fool”.  So will every carnal Christian say!

Psalm 14:1  the fool hath said in his heart … no God!”
