All of these chapters have to do with David’s rejection and sufferings.

In all this there is a picture of Christ’s rejection

II  1 Samuel 1:2-3  During the time of his rejection

During this time of Christ’s rejection by His own People, the Church is being called out

2 Samuel 5:1-3  All the tribes anointed David as their King seven years later

Acts 1:6  the Disciples of Jesus who had accepted Him as Messiah and King of Israel asked if it was time to restore the kingdom to Israel

Acts 15:16  when He returns He will do so .  Israel will ask Him to be King

IV  When He became Israel’s King, David took Jerusalem as His capital city

Of Christ, we read:

Zechariah 14:1-5  He will come fight for Jerusalem

Luke 1:32  to Jesus, the Throne of David belongs

V..  David makes known the deeds of His mighty men

            2 Samuel 23:8-39

Those who had suffered with him in the time of his rejection are now honored.
