Heaven

August 1, 2010

Scriptures

Revelation 21:1-4, 10-12, 21, 24,27

Today we remember one of our members, Naty Tejiro, who went to be with her Lord

on Wednesday. For believers in Jesus Christ, ties broken on earth make ties in Heaven.

I According to the Bible, Heaven is a real place

2 Corinthians 12:1-4 the words are actual and literal. There is a third Heaven

II Remember, Jesus, not only came from Heaven, He returned to Heaven

John 6:38 I came down from Heaven

See also verse 51,58

John 6:62 ascend up where He was before

Acts 1:9-11 notice the word “Heaven”

III Heaven, therefore, is as real and literal as the body of Jesus Christ

Hebrews 9:24 the tabernacle was the type, Heaven is the real place

1 Peter 3:22 Christ “is gone into Heaven”

IV In Heaven, there is a city

Hebrews 11:10 Abraham looked for a city

Hebrews 13:14 here no continuing city- seek one to come

Hebrews 10:34 a place of substance, better and enduring

V In this Heavenly city, note again the “no mores”

Revelation 21:1-4 no more sea -,storms, shipwrecks or separation

No more death

VI Revelation 21:12 has a wall.

At least one fact is gathered from that - all do not enter

VII Revelation 21:21 this city wall had gates of pearl.

Walls keep out, gates let in. Pearl comes from pain

The gates forever speak of Christ’s sufferings

1 Peter 3:18 Christ suffered to bring us to God

John 14:6 Christ is the gate into Heaven’ holy city

VIII Revelation 21:24 the Gates are opened for the saved

“Saved” is a Bible word. Acts 16:31 etc
