Joseph- The Tender-Hearted Man

Review

1        We have considered Joseph as the tried and tested man

2        Last lesson, Joseph the proven, trusted man

3        Today we see him as the Tender –hearted, forgiving man

 

I  Ephesians 4:32   “  tender hearted- forgiving

           Matthew 6:14  is not the standard of grace

                        We do not forgive to be forgiven

                        We forgive because we have been forgiven

 

Acts 13:38-39  through this man is preached---forgiveness of sins

            Ephesians 1:7 in whom we have redemption---the forgiveness of sins

            Colossians 1:14    we have—forgiveness of sins

            Colossians 2:13  forgiven all trespasses

            1 John 3:5  manifested to take away our sins

 

 Psalm 69:16   “thy tender mercies”  God’s tender mercies are referred to 10 times in Psalms. see  Lamentations 3:22,23 ,  Psalm 136 :

 

How do we know that Joseph was tender- hearted?

 

II  Genesis 42: 3,8,11,21-24

            Joseph knew his brothers. Heard their confession (after 20 years) and wept

 

III Genesis 43:29-30

            A human interest story!  He saw his younger brother , Benjamin, and wept

 

IV Genesis 44:11-34

            After Judah’s intersession, we see Joseph’s tender-heart

 

                        Genesis 44:18  cf  Hebrews 7:25

                        Genesis 44:32 cf  Hebrews 7:22

 

V Genesis 45:1-2

  Joseph  wept aloud  when he revealed himself to his brothers

 

 

VI   Genesis 45:14 

            Joseph weeps on his younger brother’s neck
