Advice to Timothy
1 Timothy 3:15
June 28, 2009
Introduction
Deuteronomy 4:9
take heed to thyself
Deuteronomy 12: 13 take
heed to thyself
Psalm 142:4…no man cared for my soul
So take a look at yourself. Pay
attention to yourself
“The care of my soul rather than my body, the
eternal rather than the temporal being”
1 Timothy 1:4 don’t
give heed to fables
Titus 1:14 don’t
give heed to Jewish fables.
While it is fresh in my mind, don’t
pay attention to books like “The Shack”
Hebrews 2:1 heed the things which we have heard (from
Scripture)
There are
two kinds of advice or wisdom
James 3:15 one kind is earthly, sensual and
devilish
James 3:17 the
other kind is from above.
I l Timothy 3:15 behave thyself
1. Believer’s are
responsibly for their behavior
The
basic truth is, no one else will be held accountable for your behavior
II Proper behavior is spelled out in the Bible
Titus
2:1-10
1 Samuel 12:1-2 Samuel challenged others
by his own behavior
1 Thessalonians 2:10 So
did the Apostle Paul
Psalm 101:2 I
will behave myself
1 Samuel 18:5 when
young, David behaved himself wisely
See
also in the chapter, verses 14-15 and 30
III Think on these things
You are capable of good behavior
You
are responsible
for good behavior
You
are accountable
for good behavior.
Romans 14:12 every
one of us
