The Prophets
Lesson VII
Prophecies in Hosea
February 14, 2010
Introduction
The third
major subject in Hosea is that God will finally restore the Nation of Israel to
her place of Blessing to the Nations of the World. This is Prophecy to be fulfilled
First- we look at some prophecies
in the book of Hosea that have been fulfilled.
Then we look at some prophecies
that have not been fulfilled.
The fact that some have been literally fulfilled, gives us all the evidence we
need to believe that those not yet fulfilled, will have the same kind of
fulfillment.
I Hosea 3:4 The children of
Israel shall abide many days without-
Without a king - 2 Chronicles 36:11-The last King
Zedekiah.
Without a prince - there is no
known prince in Israel to this day
Without a sacrifice - Matthew 24:2 as Jesus said, their temple would be
destroyed
Without an image, that is, an idol
Without an ephod- linen garment of
the priest-without a priest
Without teraphim-
idols plural Genesis 31:34 Rachel had teraphim.
II Hosea 4:3 therefore shall the land mourn.
Ezekiel 36:35
the land did become
desolate
III Hosea 5:5 prophecies of both the Assyrian and
Babylonian Captivities
Also in 9:3, 10:6, 11:5
IV Hosea 8:8 Scattering of the Jews among the Gentiles
Also in 9:17 Evidence is
everywhere
Deuteronomy
28:25, 28:62,64
V
Hosea 11:1 a
most remarkable prophecy
Matthew
2:13-15
If one had not read
Matthew 2:13-15, one could only believe that this verse in Hosea 11:1 is
history of the Exodus.
See Exodus4:22.
So we learn that there can be many
hidden prophecies in Hosea that will only be known when fulfilled
VI
Hosea 13:7-8 Because we have read Daniel 7,
the mention of the Lion, Leopard and Bear take on a greater meaning
VII Hosea
13:16 The destruction of Samaria
Micah 1:6-7 also predicts the desolation of
Samaria.
This has had a very literal
fulfillment
