Lesson VIII
Israel’s Promised Blessings
February 21, 2010
Introduction
Last week we looked at some
prophecies in Hosea that have, unmistakably, been fulfilled
Today we look at some prophecies
that have not yet been fulfilled.
I Hosea 1:10-11 “Yet”
cf Hosea 3:1 “Yet”.
In spite of what they have done as
a Nation,“Yet the children
of Israel shall be as the sand
Genesis 22:17
To Abraham, his seed would
be as the stars: Heavenly people
and as the sand: Earthly people
Galatians 3:7,29 all who have faith are the seed of Abraham , not Jacob
Hosea 1:10
here, only as sand therefore an earthly people. This is prophecy
Deuteronomy 32:8,9, “Jacob (not Israel here)
is the lot of His inheritance”
II Hosea 2:18-20 Notice “in that day” a time yet to come.
I will make a covenant. I
will break the battle out of the earth. I will betroth them
Behind the word
“betroth” is the thought of marriage.
Isaiah 54:10
covenant of my peace, yet to be
made
Isaiah 59:20-21 this is my covenant unto them
Deuteronomy 5:1-3 this covenant was not made
with the fathers
Jeremiah 31:31-36 I will make a new
covenant with the house of Israel
Hebrews 8:7-13
not have made, but will
make a new covenant ,only new in relation to the covenant at Sinai
In Hosea 2:16 this covenant is likened to
that of a marriage- “Ishi”
my husband
III Hosea 3:5 “Afterwards” After
what? After the fulfillment of verse 4
Israel, like Gomer, will return
She will seek the Lord
who is still her God.
They shall fear the Lord
and David their king. No doubt this is a
hidden reference
to the Greater Son of
David, Jesus their Messiah.
When will
this be? In the latter
days.
A reference elsewhere in
the Bible to the time of the Second coming of Christ
The stirrings in Israel
today are but a sure sign of the Coming of Christ again.
IV In the book of Hosea, the heart of God toward Israel is revealed.
Hosea 11:1-4 His love in the past
Hosea 11:7-9 His love in the present
Hosea 13:10 His love in the future
