Text 2 Peter 2:7-9
We would not know him to be ‘just’
and ‘righteous’ if we had not been told
I He appears because of Abram’s failure.
Genesis 12:1
The Lord had said ; leave your country and kindred
Genesis 11:31-32
Terah insisted that he go
too, and also
Genesis 12:10 Abram goes down into
Genesis 13:1
II Lot and Abram separate
Genesis 13:7-9
III Lot becomes a type or picture of a carnal saint.
So we look at some lessons about
“saints”
1
It is true, all believers sin
1 John 1:10
2.
Believers are capable of committing any sin of the flesh
Galatians 5:19 look
at the list and don’t blame the Devil!
2 Samuel 12:1-12 was David a believer?
3 When believers sin the Holy
Spirit convicts then because of their sin
2 Samuel 24:10 his heart smote him
Galatians 5:17
things that did not bother you
before you were saved, bother you now
4
Therefore, believers are never proud of their sin. When you are born anew, the Spirit starts revealing you
to you.
Job 42:5,6 I abhor myself
Isaiah 6:16
woe is me.
The closer you are to
Him the more vile you will appear yourself to be!
5
Believers therefore , do not parade their sin, but are told to
confess them to the Lord
1 John 1:7 we confess , He forgives.
2 Samuel 9:13-14
see what David did?
Romans 4:6-8 see what Paul writes
about David
6
Believers are being held in
God’s hand
John 10:27-29 no man can pluck us!
Psalm 32:4
thy hand was heavy upon me
7
If you are a believer, God will still love you even when you sin
Romans 8:38-39- nothing can separate
John 13:1
He loves you too much to
ever let go.
IV Conclude.
Would you rather be in Abram’s or Lot’s shoes now?
