Text: Matthew
24:39-44 One shall be taken, the other left
This has been one of the many
debatable subjects of Scripture. Is this the Rapture?
I 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
If this passage is not
teaching a Rapture, then what is it teaching?
II 1 Thessalonians 5:1-2
Introduces a different
subject: “the day of the Lord cometh as a thief
in the night”
III The Rapture was not fully
revealed by Jesus when He was on earth
It was fully revealed to the Apostle
Paul by Jesus, after He returned to
Heaven
1
Thessalonians 4:15 This we say unto you by the word of the Lord
1
Corinthians 15:52-58 Behold I show you a mystery—something the
Lord alone could have revealed. “we shall not all die”
We repeat, these facts were stated
by Jesus in Heaven
IV With this
background, we come to Matthew 24:39-40
In these verses the Lord is not
teaching the Rapture, if He were, the words in
1
Corinthians 15:52 would be wrong, for the mystery would have been revealed
Notice Matthew 24:30 “the son of man coming”
Matthew 24:37 “the
coming of the son of man”
Matthew 24:39 “the coming of the son of man”
Daniel 7:13-14 “the Son of
man” comes to receive a kingdom
Notice Matthew 24:40 “Then,” a time word
Matthew 24:43. His coming is likened to the coming of a thief in the night
Matthew 24:44 in such an hour as ye think not.
V
Zechariah 12: 10-14
When
In every family there will
be those who have been taken away,
as the flood took away the ungodly in the days of Noah.
Exodus 12: 12, 29-30 there was not a house in which there was not
one dead.
When Christ returns, there will be
death in every family
Mathew 24:44 be ready for that day of
judgment
2 Peter 2:4-5 whom
did the flood take-away?
Luke 17:34-37 bodies are left for
eagles! The Rapture?
