Gospel of the Kingdom

TEXT – Matthew 24:14 This gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached

I The word “gospel” means “good news”

Luke 2:10 “ I bring you good tidings”

Romans 1:1-3 every aspect of the gospel concerns Jesus Christ

II There is “good news” connected with the First advent of Christ

John 4:42 - the good news of a the Saviour

Acts 20:24 the good news of the grace of God

III There is “good news” connected with the Second Advent of Christ

Matthew 24:14 the good news of the Kingdom

Matthew 6:10 prayer has been “thy kingdom come”

Jeremiah 23:5 a King shall reign on the earth

Zechariah 14:9 the Lord shall be king over all the earth.

IV..Here we must look again at Daniel’s prophecy

Daniel 9:24-27 70 weeks divided into 7-62-1

Daniel 9:26 7 weeks , plus 62 weeks are fulfilled before the cross

Daniel 9:27 is the only week to be fulfilled after the cross

V An important observation

John the Baptist preached during the first half of the 69^th week

Matthew 3:2 he preached “the kingdom of heaven is at hand”

Jesus preached during the last half of the 69^th week

Matthew 4:23 He preached “the gospel of the kingdom”

When John and Jesus were preaching, to whom were they preaching? To Jews.

What kingdom would they have in mind? Would it not be the one promised to

their father David in 2 Samuel 7:12,13?

Keep this in mind, the 69 weeks were all upon Israel, the Church was not yet born

VI Now in answering about His coming, in Matthew 24, Jesus ,does not mention the space between the 69^th and 70^th week, but connected the 70^th week with the time immediately before His Coming and says in our text that “this gospel of the kingdom will be preached” during the 70^th week of the tribulation. And what will the “good news” be? The King is Coming!
